Access Statement: The Elm Tree Hundelby
Introduction
The Elm Tree is a large fully renovated and restored Georgian house providing guest accommodation on a ‘Bed and Breakfast’ basis. The nature of the building dictates some of the accessibility constraints and the following statement will provide more details. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further information or details.
Pre-Arrival
*We are in a rural location and the use of a car is strongly recommended for all of our guests.
*The nearest train station is Skegness, approximately 10 miles away. You can get connecting trains to Lincoln / Peterborough and onward connections from there.
*Taxi’s can be found at the station but will require booking from The Elm Tree for outward journeys. This can be arranged with either Chris or Jonathan.
*Menu’s are available in large print and can be printed off for you on arrival – just ask at the reception desk on check in.
*We have a website with booking facilities and can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
*We can be contacted by telephone, text message or email.
*Access statement is available on the website, in the room guides and also can be sent out to you via email.
Arrival and Car Parking facilities
*Access is off the main road in Hundleby, just next to the farm and opposite the Lawn Tennis club.
*Signs for The Elm Tree can be found on both the left and right hand side of the walled driveway and also on a hanging sign in front of the house.
*On arrival pull into one of the designated car parking spaces on your left hand side.
*The car park area is lit and the gates will be shut at night but will not be locked.
*Guests are reminded that the owners can accept no responsibility for loss, damage or accident whilst leaving your car in car park of The Elm Tree.
*A door bell and door knocker is found at the front door where you will be shown into the bar area when checking in.
*Access to the front door is over a gravel driveway – lights are at in the garden area and also either side of the front door.
*Once checked in Chris or Jonathan will then accompany you to your car to carry in your bags and then show you to your room.
*Access can be gained through the french doors and up to your bedroom.
Main Entrance and Reception
*Entrance to the property is at the front of the Elm Tree.
*The reception area is down the coridoor where thre is a check in desk. On check out this is where you will come to settle your bill,
*Provided in the reception area you will find lifestyle magazines, newspapers and leaflets of interest whilst you are staying with us.
*The reception area is 20 square metres, and has 4 x tub chairs and a 2 seater sofa arrangement.
Public Areas
*All guests have their own toilet facilities in the bedrooms.
*Two unisex toilets and hand wash facilities are located to the left hand side of the breakfast room.
Breakfast Room
*Breakfast is served in the Breakfast room overlooking the garden.
*Access to the breakfast room can be gained from the reception at the front of the house or to the right of the reception / bar area.
*Breakfast menu’s will be placed in each guest room on arrival where you can peruse at your leisure.
*Breakfast menu’s can be provided in large print if required – please ask when checking in for this to be arranged and one will be printed off and brought up to your room.
*All food and drinks are served by ourselves. With a choice of cereals, juices and yoghurts on the large dresser on the right hand side of the room.
*If you require getting the self-service items then please speak to either Chris orJonathan who will be happy to assist.
Laundry
*Not available at the property however an ironing board and iron can be provided if requested. Please speak to either Chris or Jonathan.
Leisure Facilities
*Not applicable for The Elm Tree – the reception area provides many leaflets on things to do when staying in the area. Chris and Jonathan will also happily advise on suitable activities.
Bedrooms
*Audible smoke detectors area located around the building.
*Rooms have centrally operated lamps and ceiling lights giving good light levels.
*Rooms have Televisions with remote controls, Tassimo drinks machines, clock radio’s with iPod/iPhone docking system and hairdryers.
*All bedrooms have seating areas, with the two suites having a relaxing coffee table area.
*All bedrooms have bedside tables, lamps, dressing tables with mirror, wardrobes and full length mirrors.
*The flooring in all bedroom areas is carpet.
*There is a good contract in decor and colour from the walls to the carpet.
Bathroom / Shower and WC
*Percy Pheasant suite has a walk in shower with a flat level walk in shower tray.
*Hamish the Stag suite has a walk in shower but has a step of 3cm to gain access to the enclosed shower enclosure.
*All other bathrooms have showers within the bath themselves with a moveable shower screen.
*All rooms have a shaving point, backlit heated mirrors.
*It should be noted that sanitory waiste, nappies, cleansing wipes, cottonwool etc should be disposed of in the bin provided and NOT down the toilet.
*The Elm Tree is committed to protecting the environment and is committed to sustainability. Please refer to the towel notice in the bathrooms regarding changing towels.
Grounds and Gardens
*The Elm Tree has extensive grounds to the right of the front door, covering a large lawn area and terrace.
*The pathways around the property are original and therefore some of the surface areas may be uneven and not suitable for people with mobility issues.
*The terrace area is available for guests to enjoy the garden however if you would like to move the ouside furniture then please ask for assistance.
Additional Information
*All rooms are provided with a fire escape plan, located on the backs of each bedroom door. Please take the time to look at the route and locate yourself with the fire assembly point.
*The property is a fully non smoking property within the building, however a designated smoking area can be located to the left of the french doors in the car park. Please dispose of your cigarettes in the sand bucket provided.
*We have a utility room where wet clothes can be hung up to dry should you need it, also place for storing wellies and boots!
*We aim to be available to our guests as much as possible and are happy to advise on local attractions and facilities. Guests can use the internal phone system to reach us after 6pm.
*The french doors, door to the breakfast room, and entry to the bar area will be closed after 9pm. Guests staying will have a key to the front reception area on a Yale lock and will be able to gain access to the bedroom area, reception and front dining room.
*We accept cash, cheque, Debit cards and credit cards.
